Sonayeecha 3rd Round from 13th - 14th March 2012

Panchayat on 13th March 2012
Over 600 people were present for the panchayat 
Things happened in Round 3 Sonayeecha

1) Met DM Gorakhpur and discussed our views...he assured us to make our village a Model Village
2) He assured us to give full support in taking things forward.
3) He asked SDM Bansgaon to visit our village along with his team and do the needful.
4) Over 600 people attended the panchayat on 13th March. It included women, men, girls, boys, students, and elders. Almost whole village and the officials as well as nearby village villagers where also present.
5) Discussion on economic activities involving women and there problems were discussed.
6) SDM raised almost all the points which we had discussed with him and given him the print outs listing our problems.

 7) We did road cleaning with the help of villagers.

Villagers were asked to give lecture on what they have understood from the leaflets of encephalitis given by DM Gorakhpur...one of the villager in action

8) Encephalitis posters and leaflets were distributed and few villagers gave lectures what they understood about the same.

 9) We visited the primary and middle school and checked on the quality of education in both the schools. The experience was shattering. Negligence by teachers was one of the major concern other than many other factors. Who cares was the outcome which we felt. Many suggestions were given to the principal of both the school.

On asking why such a bad situation..we were told no student come regularly ..Though on checking the attendance register most of students were coming regularly. God knows what will be the future of these students!!!

I think school boundary wall must be made as its on the main road. Quite dangerous.

On asking what is the quality check process of the level of education this SLF was shown. Don't know  on what parameters are these reports filled in...Is there any cross checking system!!!


Though both the toilets as well as all the classrooms  were locked. It was opened when we asked them to open and show it to us. Situation of the toilets can be seen. there is no cleaning at all.

Wonder if they are ever used or not by those it is intended for!!!



There is no boundary wall in the school. Nearby school hardly 50 steps is a Pig farm, can be seen in the image below.

This school has a large area we can make this school into a inter college as well as a degree college . Need to check  this option with the concerned officials. Around 450 students study in class 6th, 7th and 8th class. There is another school nearby which will be checked in the month of May 2012

Quality of education was no different from the primary school discussed above.  Students where  interviewed randomly and same situation. There future is purely dark if the situation is same.

Sonayeecha 2nd Round from 4th - 5th Feb, 2012

1.       Primary School was photographed. One can see 1 teacher taking care of whole school with classes of 1st to 5th class with a stick in hand. When does he teach????
2.   Village young boys reading the information and giving lecture on what they have understood on various things related to rural development and empowerment to each other.

3.    Dance organised by one of the villager on the occasion on his niece birthday. Just see the people gathered for the same. Hope someday they can get together in same number for some another good cause.
4. RTI Training was given which villagers attended and learned at 9:30 pm till 12:30 midnight
4.       Panchayat at the Srikant’s bagh.

Minutes of meeting of Panchayat on 5th Feb
Panchayat happened in which more than 80 villagers participated. Matters were discussed as well as few decisions were taken.
1.   EDUCATION:  
a.       Quality of education to be checked and a report should be made by public.
b.      It was decided that the education of each and every kid/student of our village will be taken care by the village itself. Be it from any cast community or society. The responsibility would be in the nature of fees arrangement in Government College. If somebody needs something extra other than fees he will have to write a letter to the village sansad and it will be discussed in the open panchayat and decisions will we taken on that matter.
2.   INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: Efforts for Computer & Internet Broadband should be made.
3.   INFRASTRUCTURE: Road & drainage measurement and design should be made and given to the Pradhan so that he can take it further.
4.   SANITATION: Toilets in School should be checked as well as the status of Toddlers toilets should report for anganwaadi.
5.   INDIRA AWAS YOGNA: List of people who don’t have any proper place to live should be made so that it can be taken forward.
6.  PENSION PLAN: The irregularity of widow and old age pensioners should be reported to the officials to take proper action on the same.
7.    BPL & APL CARD: Make a list of BPL and APL card holders and people list irregularity should be reported to the officials to take proper action on the same.
8.  PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM: Anil Gupta son of Ramdhari Gupta our ration distributor was asked to provide us the total ration he gets in the rate which he gets and no. of various card holders and last 6 moth statements of his records.
9.  ANGANWAADI: A place for anganwaadi should be arranged at the earliest. We recommend the Panchayat Bhavan for the same till any other place is not arranged.
10.  PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: We should follow up with our MP for the Public Health Center in our village.
11.   EMPOWERMENT: Training of RTI was held from 9:30 pm till 12:30 midnight.
12.   ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT:
a.       A village fund was announced which will be deposited in the bank account to be opened in the name of "sonayeecha rural development society". This fund would be made by the donation of villagers as well as from any one. Also if any kind of income is made by the society the same would be also deposited in the same account. This fund will be utilised by the village sansad as per the decisions taken in the open village panchayat. A minimum of Rs. 10 has to be given by each house hold though one should give whole heartedly as much as he can afford as per his economic situation. Any villager can make a query on the expenses of the same.
b.      Self help group formation was discussed.
c.       An idea of Cooperative society followed with a cooperative bank was also floated.
